Gillian Elizabeth MacLean was a graduate student in the UBC Department of Medical Genetics, who passed away suddenly on March 21, 2017, at the age of 29. She was in the second year of her master’s degree in genetic counselling. Prior to her time at UBC, Gillian grew up in Plaster Rock, NB and went on to attain degrees at UNB (BSc) and McGill University (MSc).
To commemorate Gillian’s contributions to the Genetic Counselling program, colleagues and family are establishing the Gillian MacLean Memorial Scholarship at the UBC Department of Medical Genetics.
It was always a pleasure to have the MacLean girls come to the house for their piano lessons. Gillian was always prepared and very optimistic. Beautiful person with a great personality. Sympathies to all.
