About Robert Stuart

Robert Stuart was born in Chemainus, B.C. He was a graduate of Victoria High School, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Wisconsin, where he was awarded a PhD. He completed his dissertation at the Russian Research Center at Harvard, where he met Paul Gregory. Together they wrote seven editions of textbooks on the former Soviet Union and Comparative Economic Systems.

Robert was a Professor in the Economics Department at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, for 37 years. For 25 of those years he was the department chairman. He also served as a visiting professor at Princeton University for 15 years. He served a term as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Comparative Economic Studies. He resided in Bellingham, Washington and Thetis Island, BC, Canada.
